ProChile Newsletter

This Summer, ProChile, the Trade Commission of Chile, partnered with CORFO, Chile’s Economic Development Agency, to conduct a Silicon Valley media tour to promote Chile as the “nearshore destination of choice for IT and BPO” services. It was a profitable trip and resulted in coverage in the San Jose Mercury News and other outlets.

This Fall, we will be doing it again in New York, meeting with multinational corporations and influential media outlets to further publicize Chile’s technology market as a venue for foreign direct investment (FDI) in IT and BPO services.

Below please find information on the October 2007 Media Tour, recent and upcoming missions to the U.S., Chilean Week in Los Angeles and news about Chile’s October events, Business Opportunities in Chilean Biotech and Clinical Trials Sectors and Investing in Chile: Opportunities in the Real Estate and Tourism Markets.

We look forward to keeping you informed about investment and technology opportunities in Chile.

Kind Regards,

Alejandro Cerda

New York Media Tour

During the week of Oct. 22, ProChile and CORFO will conduct a tour targeting top-tier business and technology media in New York. Like previous tours, the purpose of the tour is to publicize Chile’s value proposition to North American multinational corporations (MNCs), while positively positioning the Latin American market within the global shared services industry and Chile within the Latin American market. Unlike previous tours, we will be building the “Chile as nearshore destination story” by offering the media a chance to speak with officials from ProChile, CORFO and the private sector (i.e., Innovation Forum, ACTI, AMCHAM) about the current business climate, experiences and new opportunities in Chile. We will provide a recap of the tour in our next newsletter so stay tuned!

Over the course of the week, we will meet with numerous MNCs to understand their business requirements for consolidating Latin American operations, current nearshore/offshore operations, and future plans. We will present Chile’s nearshore advantages, MNC success stories and government grants program to the MNCs.
