Best Fantastic Feature Award and Best Fantastic Actor (Marko Zaror) are the two awards the Chilean Film MANDRILL by Ernesto Diaz Espinoza received at the Fantastic Fest 2009 in Austin, Texas.
Born in Santiago, Chile in 1978, Diaz has a film career that includes films like Kiltro, Miragemen and Mandrill. In his last production he depicts a James Bond like character (Marko Zaror) hired to kill and who falls in love with the daughter of the target.
Marko Zaror has been compared with Jackie Chan and Jean-Claude Van Damme, and it's been talked about as Hollywood's next top martial-arts talent. Zaror managed to impress the critics at Fantastic Fest, therefore winning the Best Fantastic Actor Award.
This wins are added to the list of Chilean films being awarded all over the world, like the film "La Nana" by Sebastian Silva, recipient of the Sundance Jury Prizes World Cinema Dramatic and World Cinema Special Prize for Acting.
