Every summer, Lollapalooza invites music lovers from around the world to Chicago's own Millenium Park for a festival of the best bands across the globe. For the first time in nearly twenty years, the event will make its international debut. So what city did co-founder of Lollapalooza, Perry Farell, chooce as his venue? None other than Chile's incredible and hospitable capital, Santiago!
There were several key element Farell was searching for in his quest for the perfect festival location outside Chicago. The first one was ample space for both stages and crowds to interact. The second necessity is the venue's proximity to a major city in order for fans to be accommodated by rich culture, exotic restaurants, a selection of clubs and bars, and a broad array of hotels to stay at. The final, deciding factor for the Lollapalooza team was the passion that Chilean youth hold for music and arts.
For centuries, poetry and song have been a staple of the everyday culture in Chile. So in addition to giving lolla-lovers from around the world an opportunity to experience one of South America's greatest gems, Lollapalooza will also be introducing some of Chile's indigenous music groups. This cultural music exchange is set to take place on April 2-3, so stayed tuned for further details on the event.
