Media Arts Center San Diego's San Diego Latino Film Festival is proud to present its’ 9th Annual Cinema en tu Idioma Film Series showcasing new Latin American, Mexican and Spanish Cinema. The 4-month series will begin this upcoming August with the screening of PRETENTIENDO (UGLY ME), starring Barbara Mori, August 22-28 at UltraStar Mission Valley Cinemas at Hazard Center.
A crowd-pleaser at the recent 2008 San Diego Latino Film Festival, PRETENTIENDO (UGLY ME) stars Mexican film and telenova star Barbara Mori (La Mujer de Mi Hermano). When her boyfriend cheats on her with her best friend, a beautiful woman (Barbara Mori) swears off relationships and re-makes herself in a new town. However, a chauvinist co-worker's remarks soon draw her back into the battle of the sexes. A fun romantic comedy set in beautiful Valparaiso, Chile.
Director Claudio Dabed will be present at the Opening Night screening on Friday, August 22nd. Founder and Executive Director of Media Arts Center San Diego and San Diego Latino Film Festival, Ethan van Thillo, states, "It's an honor to bring back Mr. Dabed and his fun film after its’ very successful screening at the recent 15th anniversary San Diego Latino Film Festival. The film is a great date film and Barbara Mori puts in a not-to-be-missed performance.’"
PRETENDIENO (UGLY ME) will screen for one-week only exclusively at UltraStar Mission Valley Cinemas at Hazard Center (off the 163 Freeway and Friars Rd.). Run time: 118 minutes. Screening times are: 10:15am, 12:45, 3:15pm, 5:45pm, 8:15pm, and 10:45pm.
Tickets are $9.50 General Audiences / $7.50 Students, seniors & Media Arts Center San Diego members. Individual tickets can be purchased prior to each screening at the UltraStar Mission Valley Cinemas at Hazard Center box office (7510 Hazard Center Dr., SD, CA 92108).
