Chilean cinema –as many other areas of the country’s artistic and economic spheres, is burgeoning. In an impetuous effort to challenge established aestheti and narrative boundaries a new generation of young directors has taken the local scene and the film festival circuit by storm. One of the most exciting characteristics of this energetic and promising trend is the fact that these novel filmmakers are taking different routes to present and represent the complexity of the local culture, offering a vivid panorama as diverse as Chile itself.
